Early inspiration from Japanese woodcut artists led me to develop the method of reduction linocut hand printing I now use. Through which I am exploring the drama and subtlety of the beautifully diverse Welsh landscape. Everything starts with a walk, the longer the better, until gradually I start to see the pattern and the relationships between natural forms emerge. I start to hear the particular dialect of the land I walk through and can then begin to draw. Looking for form, texture and strong patterns I aim for intricate simplicity with some topographical accuracy.
